Like many people i try to do a few extra reps at home, be it sit ups, press up etc. Having become a little bored with the process i saw the advert for the prefect push up a device I’m sure many of us believe is just a money making project! Having spent a lot of my time researching different exercises each month to add to my routines and constantly looking at good techniques i thought for £35 I’ll give it a try.

On first view there isn’t lot a to them, i received the parcel no bigger than a shoe box, opened them up and no fancy packaging just straight down to business, 2 perfect push up handles, a DVD and a calender to help you put a routine together. On first use i placed the handles shoulder width apart, taking the handles in my hand assuming the press up position i get ready to do my first perfect push up.

The feel of the handles is comfy and on first use, when lowering down while rotating your hands it feels wierd and slightly slack but this soon goes away after a few sets, the ky is to control each movement rather than trying to let the device do the work for you.

So all in all it seems like a great purchase, i can take them to gym but i can also do them at home, i will write another blog later in the month to update my progress with this item!!!!

This month i have invested in a supplement called Cyclone which is produced by the company Maximuscle. The idea of cyclone is not only do you get the protein but you also get the added benefit of creatine mixed in there.

The reason i have stumped for this product over the vast amounts available is because it came highly recommended. I found it at a great price of £29.99 down from £44.99 and finally i have used whey protein before, not religiously i admit but i wanted to start with a new product so that i could rate it and this time take it religiously beside my new nutruious  sample diet &  routine. The reason i want a product also containing creatine is because when your muscles store creatine, more water is also stored in the muscles in order to maintain homeostasis. This causes the muscles to appear more full and can allow for the gain of up to 10 lbs of lean mass in a matter of about a weeks. Also it helps with Anaerobic training i.e weight training and allows the anebolic process to exceed its normal lenght of time.

Over the next month i will post the benefits i see, feel and experience and i hope all i have to pass on is how well this product is working for me!!!

Importance of H20……..

Now i no what your thinking dooh…right? Well this is based on a personal level and kind of a reminder to myself!!!! I like most of us go through the day drinking when i can, here and there but not religiously. Because of this i probably suffer dihydration, Infact the only time i seem to drink water is when i am at the gym and if something else was offered i would probably take that i.e Sports drinks.

The problem ive found out is that our muscles are made up of mainly water, 73% to be precise. So if water makes up almost three quaters of our muscle why are we not drinking it more often i know i certainly will be from now on!! its because of this that mixing supplements with water is so effect because they provide the muscle with Water and Protein.

Finally like me your probably wondering what you should drink well if you weight 100 pounds then you should be drinking 1.5 Litres or 50 fluid oz or 6.5 cups per day but realistically you should aim for 10 glases of pure water and top up with the extras such as juice etc…….

So remember enjoy your drink……just make sure its H2O!!!

So its here, the start of my (fingers crossed) bulk up routine. However after recently talking and researching i have realised that the gym is not my only Allie when trying to bulk up and get healthy. Your diet is a major player and can be as important as up to 70% of muscle building leaving only 30% of the work you do in the gym actually responsible for your physical attributes.

Meals should be 6 a day so breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack (last snack around 8pm)

Following this advice i have decided to research foods i should be eating and try and lay them down for you in a no nonsense form without going in depth. For you people like me you just want to be told what to eat that can aid your workout plan so here goes:

  1. Nuts – Almond etc… great for snacking on between meals, add to oatmeal also
  2. Beans – not baked but black, Lima, pinto or navy. if your not a fan add them to dishes like pasta then you’ll hardly notice them.
  3. Green veg – Spinach/ Broccoli/green beans/peas cauliflower etc
  4. Dairy – Cheese, Milk, Yoguarts but try and make sure these are low fat as much as possible
  5. Eggs – Scrambled, poached.
  6. Meat – Try to get lean meat such as turkey and chicken and try organic if you can afford it.
  7. Peanut Butter – amazed me as well….bonus to eat one of my favourite toppings!
  8. Extra virgin olive oil – Again try to use in the pan as much as possible
  9. Wholegrain – Bread, Pasta, Rice and Cereal. Be careful with bread that it doesn’t say whole bread this is not whole grain.
  10. Protein shake – Great with your snack and before gym and after to replenish muscles.
  11. Fish – Tuna, Salmon would be my choice.
  12. Berries – Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries and raspberries are all great for your health.

These foods will be a bases of my weekly shop and trying to incorporate them into meals can make old boring meals great again such as replacing chips with jacket potato, white bread with wholegrain, toast with oat meal. There are plenty of recipes out there on the Internet and also on the t.v so keep an eye out and I’ll try and blog what Ive been eating when i blog about my routine. Hope this helps some of you when it comes to your diet and tat you try and use these foods. Not only will 6 meals a day help you bulk but it will in turn help you cut fat because it will mess with your bodies metabolism which will perform quicker.

Happy health
